ASRY Completes Landing Platform for LNG Terminal

MANAMA: ASRY, the leading ship and rig repair facility in the Arabian Gulf, has completed the construction of a boat landing platform that will ultimately form part of the ongoing new LNG terminal under development in Bahrain. The platform was indigenously built and fully fabricated within ASRY, adding another success to the yard’s growing portfolio of fabrication projects.

“Completing projects such as this landing platform signifies two sources of pride for ASRY,” commented ASRY CEO Andrew Shaw at the load-out of the structure. “Firstly it is very gratifying to have ASRY contribute to a nationally significant initiative such as the Bahrain LNG Terminal, which will be an important step forward in the country’s energy strategy. And secondly, this represents another successful project for ASRY in the fabrication sector, which will be a growth area for ASRY as we move forward.”

“Winning this contract against other fabrication yards, not shipyards, is an encouraging sign for our fabrication workmanship,” added ASRY New Construction and Engineering Senior Manager Sauvir Sarkar. The landing platform was completed on schedule in 90 days and on budget, with all components being fully fabricated within ASRY, and designed to replace costly built sections.

The success of the project has opened up negotiations for the shipyard to assist in further projects relating to the LNG terminal. ASRY also recently completed a subsea section of a new wellhead platform for Schlumberger and Bapco, in an ongoing drive to leverage the yards experience and facilities, which are well-suited to the fabrication sector.
